WIPocalypse February

I completely missed the January update which is fogivable considering it was the busiest few weeks of the year for me with travel, guests, gardening, work at it's peak, boyfriend away I could go on and on... Since February began I'm still busy but a bit more routine.

So far this year I have completed Shepherd's Bush Sail Away:

I have stitched a bit on Blossom Harvest:

Since my last post I have started Easter Parade by Blackbird Designs! Finally I've started this one which has been on my "bucket list" forever - it may even be completed by Easter!!

So let's talk gardening! Last year Boyfriend and I bought our first house. I LOVE my house. The owners before us were a couple who had hit on hard times with the recession. They had done a 'surface' renovation. All new paint, carpet, insulation, kitchen, bathroom and kitchen. They had made it a very comfortable special house - they had excellent taste and it was a bit sad because we could tell that they had done things that they wanted, it wasn't an investment property. The flat we lived in before was practically falling apart and quite gross really so it was a very big change. The house has lots of windows and light, a really good layout with french doors that open on to a deck. It's one level from the street but to the back it's elevated above a MASSIVE backyard.

In the backyard we have a plums, peaches, lemons, grapefruit, mandarins and apples.

We have a big lawn with awful grass. We decided to put in a vege garden and on the deck we have grown lettuces and herbs. This is my first time gardening and it has been a great success!!!

Here is an example of the vege's we have harvested:

In the photo there is Zucchini, tomatoes, shallots, red onion, broccoli, corn, beetroot, peppers, chilli peppers. Missing from the picture is celery, cucumbers, spring onion. That's just from one weekend!!

We have made many stirfries, I have canned lots of pasta sauce for the winter, and have made big pots of tomatoe and bean soup: tomatoes, garlic, onion, 2 cans of butter beans, corn, celery, chorizo, chilli - YUM! raw beetroot and carrot salad with pumkin and sunflower seeds and sultana's. roasted beetroot is also very nice!

  1. Oh my goodness Lisa! I am so jealous of all your awesome veges and fruit trees. I so miss the North Island and the ease of growing veges up there :(
